About

Editorial standards

The rules we hold ourselves to, published so you can hold us to them.

Sources

  • Every factual claim is traced to a source listed on the page. Where we cannot source a claim, we do not make it.
  • For health topics we prefer systematic reviews, then randomised trials, then clinical guidelines. We say which kind of source supports each claim.
  • We report results as the authors report them. We state certainty as the authors state it, and we say what a study does not cover.
  • For NDIS content we cite the NDIS and state the date we checked. We do not promise that any item will be funded.
  • Product specifications name their source and the date checked.

Authorship and review

Content is written by VRTA Editorial. Each page shows its review status. A page is marked reviewed only when a named reviewer has checked it, and their name and the date are shown. Until then it is marked "Clinical review pending". We do not publish reviewer names or qualifications we cannot verify.

Products and commercial relationships

  • VRTA is owned by Njuguna Group, which also operates LowCost AT. See ownership and disclosure.
  • Product links appear only in the headsets and technology section, never on pages about clinical evidence or conditions.
  • Pages with product links carry a disclosure, and each link is labelled as a referral link.
  • Editorial content is not changed because a product is, or is not, sold at LowCost AT.
  • We do not claim that a product treats any condition, and we do not describe any product as "TGA approved".

Corrections

We correct errors promptly and log material changes on the corrections page.

What this is not
